DEDICATED TO COMMUNITY
Kate Dexter has spent the last four years working hard on behalf of the people of Port Angeles as a member of the Port Angeles City Council. She served two years as Deputy Mayor and is currently serving as Mayor. Her master’s degree in public administration gives Kate an in-depth understanding of public policy and how municipal government works.
Kate shares your concerns surrounding issues shaping the future of Port Angeles:
- Public safety
- Affordable housing
- Community revitalization
- Improving quality of life for all residents, from our youngest to oldest
As housing and utility costs continue to rise, Kate will continue to work with the community to implement additional opportunities for increased access to affordable housing, living wage jobs, and support for local entrepreneurs. She will continue to enact city policies that create better outcomes for working families such as changes to the city code to reduce barriers to affordable housing development, including tax breaks for development of multi-family housing units.
Kate will seek partnerships that encourage economic and social investment in Port Angeles, including our historic downtown. She is excited to partner with the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce on a downtown plan, Elevate 2026.
Kate supports the city’s commitment to infrastructure improvements, including street and alley repairs, harbor cleanup, and waterfront beautification. Working collaboratively is the most effective way to make progress and Kate looks forward to continuing work with existing partners and building relationships with new partners including other local governments like Clallam County, and community organizations such as Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic.
Kate will continue to advocate for a thriving local economy that supports improved public infrastructure, vibrant neighborhoods that feature safe walking and biking, and a healthy community core.
